Dark Wine of Stars brings you tales of speculative fiction: sci-fi, fantasy, horror supernatural, alternate history, magic realism and all those things somewhere in-between.
Is there any news on the Cat's Eye New Bella/Purr Fiction anthology? I submitted a story on June 30 ("First Cat"), but haven't heard back. I queried on Aug. 30 and Sept. 12 (to aliceingoreland@yahoo.com), but no response.
I had a story accepted to the shortlist of this anthology on the condition of a rewrite back in May. I reworked the tale as per the editor's request and sent it back to her at the end of June. I followed up with a second email around the 28th or so to confirm that she had received my updated manuscript. She replied with a confirmation and I left it at that. I hadn't heard from her for about a month and a half and the website/blog hadn't been updated in awhile either, so I sent her a query at the beginning of August to see if she had had a chance to review my revision. No response. It'll be two months since that email come this Sunday. I'm getting the feeling that she either died, which would be unfortunate, or she realized how much out of pocket it was going to cost to print the three or four anthologies she proposed and decided to Lame Goat it and pull a Jacobsmeyer, disappearing off the face of the planet without even the slightest courtesy of informing the authors that the anthologies had been dropped.
I queried about the status of my submission and finally sent a withdrawal email, as I wanted to get my story out elsewhere (no point of it being in limbo if it doesn't have to be). As of yet, I haven't received acknowledgment of any of my emails.
I want to give the benefit of the doubt here, but it is rather frustrating.
I submitted a story and got an email on June 28. Mari asked for a different type of file. I sent it and haven't heard from her since, and don't get any reply to queries. While I hope she is all right, I really would like to know what is going on.
I received an email on June 26th from her saying she would like to hold my story for "further consideration." Haven't heard another word since then, and she has not replied to my follow up email. A little frustrating...debating whether or not to just withdraw altogether. =/
Um . . . So how many of you are just going to pull out of this? I'm curious. Mari shortlisted my story back in June, and then nothing after that. How long does one wait before the whole thing is declared dead?
a good question...I'm about to pull out now. 6 months is, I think, plenty of time to wait. Now if she was constantly updating the blog and seemed to still be going forward with things, I'd consider holding out. But this blog has remained dead for the past five months. Time to move my story elsewhere.
Haven't noticed one more term because then, and she has not replied to my stick to up email. When you have nothing to do or unhappy? What should you do to spend the free time? How about the game? like to get Buy RS Gold in WOW, and how to have theRS Goldwith less money, is there anyway to get the for us? We need to think about this.
Mari Mitchell lives in the high deserts of California. She has been married for over ten years, has two sons, two pet rats (who are actively plotting to take over the nearby space port,) and one very round, very loved cat (who is passively-aggressively taking over the couch and computer.)

I'm wondering too, about a story I submilled on 12 July.
Er, that should be "submitted". Don't really understand what happened there - it's not an easy typo to make.
